Advantage CDC is a private not-for-profit corporation licensed and certified by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to provide low-cost, long-term SBA loans to assist eligible small businesses in California.
CDC is an experienced SBA lender with an extensive history of successfully financing business expansion projects. Formed in January of 1979, the CDC has an active Board of Directors from government and private sector institutions, community organizations and businesses. All are committed to and supportive of the growth of small businesses in California.
In addition to its duties as a direct SBA Lender in California, the CDC offers SBA 7(a) loan packaging and loan placement services throughout the country.

Ahmad has been involved in the lending industry for over 22-years, with a primary focus on SBA lending. Ahmad started his career as an intern with Long Beach Area CDC, now known as Advantage CDC, where he went on to become Sales Manager. His desire to learn more convinced him to work for banks and he has worked from small-to-medium-to-large banks such as South County Bank, Banco Popular and Wells Fargo. He has worked as underwriter, SBA BDO and Relationship Manager. In August 2014 he was called back to Advantage CDC. After working there for close to a year, he became acting President, and later was promoted to President and Director of Advantage CDC. He built his new team at the CDC, which included experienced BDOs and processor. He is a member and ex-president of the Pakistan Chamber of Commerce, LA Chapter. Ahmad’s background is complemented with two MBA degrees, and many professional training courses and certifications. He has been a resident of Southern California since immigrating to the US in 1995. After work, he devotes most of his time to his two sons, and enjoys listening to music, and travelling.
Ajay has been in the SBA Lending for over 17 years with experience SBA 504, 7(a) and Micro Loan programs. He has been part of Wells Fargo team that ranked # 1 in the Los Angeles District in 2009. Serving as Program Manager at Golden State CDC, Ajay oversaw SBA 504 lending from initial conversations to underwriting and finally closing and funding. In 2014, he joined Coastal Business Finance CDC as Vice President Market Area Manager. He assisted in Development of Lender relationships in Southern California resulting in funding over $20 Million in SBA 504 loans. In his spare time Ajay enjoys actively running and biking and spending time with his family at the movies and traveling. With a passion for higher education, volunteered for University of Southern California as a panelist for their Certified Real Estate Development program. He also voluntarily worked on business curriculum enhancement for Moorpark Community Colleges’ School of Business.
Sofia has been involved in the lending industry for over 19 years with primary focus on SBA lending. Sofia started her banking career as a part-time teller in the Los Angeles area. She has worked for small-to-medium banks such as Community Bank, Citizens Bank, Banco Popular, South County Bank and Banc of California. She has worked as SBA Loan Assistant, SBA Loan Packager/Closer, Loan Specialist, Commercial Bank Specialist, Loan Servicing Specialist and a Senior Loan Specialist. In March 2015 she decided to join the team at Advantage CDC to learn the loan processing/closing of the SBA 504 Loan Program. Sofia’s background is complemented by her years of experience and professional training courses and certifications. Sofia has been a resident of Southern California since immigrated to US in 1976. After work, she likes to spend time with her family and friends; enjoys hiking, Zumba and traveling.
Rosie has been involved in the lending industry since 1998. Rosie started her career as a Jr. Escrow Officer & later a Title Representative for the same Financial Title & Escrow Company. In 2005, Rosie acquired her Real Estate License and went on to becoming a Mortgage Loan Officer for WAMU/Chase, Bank of America/Countrywide, and Provident Bank in the residential real estate business. Rosie has been licensed as a certified loan signing agent since 2005 and a member of the National Notary Association for 13 years. Rosie joined Advantage CDC in 2012 and was exposed to Commercial Real Estate in 2012. Rosie is a Loan Specialist focusing mainly on SBA Loan Servicing.
Caroline began working in accounting in her first jobs after graduating High School. She paid her way through college by working in accounting for Gaines Electric Supply in Long Beach and going to Long Beach Community College and California State University Long Beach part time until graduation with a BA degree. In the mid 1980’s Caroline started her own small business, CD Bookkeeping, and with referrals from CPA firms that she had worked with during her years working at various companies, obtained clients who needed part time work by a qualified outside bookkeeper. Since that time, she has worked as Controller and/or Bookkeeper for many small companies, managing Bank Accounts, Insurance, Payroll, Contracts and sometimes as Office Manager or Secretary as well. In 2004 Caroline began working for Advantage CDC as a part time Bookkeeper and became Controller in 2015. She finds the work at Advantage CDC challenging and fulfilling and enjoys the work environment.
